CMA's History



Beginnings

In 1971, Conference Management Associates' (CMA) founder Barry Gringorten planned an international medical congress for 1,000 doctors from over forty countries. From that initial event Conference Management Associates was born -- one of the first full-service meeting planning agencies in North America.

Mr. Gringorten, who continues to oversee planning and operations of every program, has been recognized many times for outstanding creativity and meeting planning skills. In 1978, he was the first North American independent planner to be admitted to the prestigious European-based International Association of Professional Congress Organizers. In 1985, he was the first person in the world to earn the "CMP" designation as a Certified Meeting Professional.

In 1982, CMA expanded into the corporate market, adding services for businesses of all sizes and in a variety of sectors. Small and medium-size companies as well as prestigious blue chip corporations have called upon CMA to collaborate with them in the production of their corporate meetings, incentive travel programs and one-of-a-kind special events and celebrations.

Today

From our headquarters in Florida, CMA produces and manages a range of Programs on a world-wide basis: Sales Meetings, Senior Management Meetings, Incentive & Recognition Travel Programs, New Product Launches, Theme Parties, Family Days And Other Special Events.

We have a full complement of experienced planners, an IATA-appointed group travel agency, and state-of-the-art computer systems and proprietary software that track every aspect of a Program. Some of the areas in which your staff might benefit from CMA's input include,
